WHAT IS THE SAFE ENVIRONMENT PROGRAM AND HOW IS THE TRAINING COMPLETED?
This program was established to insure a safe environment for our children and young people. To be compliant with the Diocese's Safe Environment program you must do the following:
- Complete the Employee/Volunteer Disclosure and Information Form and submit this form to Kim Darby in the Skaggs Catholic Center High School Office. This form can be printed by downloading it from here (download) or by clicking a) www.dioslc.org, then b) New Safe Environment Section, and c) Forms. You can submit this confidential form in a sealed envelope, Attn: Kim Darby to any SCCYAA board member, your sport rep, or the elementary/middle school office.
- Complete the Safe Environment on-line training. Detailed instructions for accessing this training are available by clicking www.dioslc.org, New Safe Environment Section. Please choose the Skaggs Catholic Center as your location on the registration page. After you complete the training, you will be able to print out a certificate that says you have successfully completed the program. If the program does not allow you print out a certificate, it means you have not completed all the modules of the program. You can go back and continue where you left off.
All employees and volunteers (18 and older) having regular contact with minors are required to complete the Safe Environment training. This includes all coaches, assistant coaches, and anyone having routine, consistent and regular contact with minors. WHEN DO YOU HAVE TO COMPLETE THE TRAINING?
The Safe Environment training needs to be completed two weeks before any contact with minors (to allow time to complete the background checks). The on-line training is currently good for 3 years.
All records are kept in a confidential file in a locked office.
