Purpose and Philosophy

SCCYAA was established by the Skaggs Catholic Center Council to govern and administer youth athletics at St. John the Baptist Elementary School and St. John the Baptist Middle School for children in grades K-8.

SCCYAA’s guiding principles center on the belief that all youth athletic activities are Catholic educational programs that value the worth of each participant as a child of God. As such, youth activities must encourage a Christian attitude promoting sportsmanship and mutual respect and foster the learning of life skills such as discipline, teamwork, perseverance and responsibility.

It is the aim of SCCYAA to ensure that activities offered under its sanction are quality competitive, recreational and developmental programs that uphold campus standards and support the stated missions of St. John the Baptist Elementary and St. John the Baptist Middle School to address the spiritual, academic, social, psychological, aesthetic and physical development of each child.
